about

The fear of rejection. The yearning for sureness. The seething rage that inspires recklessness. “That Won’t Be Today” is a torrent of emotion that will make you want to push your pedal to the floor. In signature Nineteen Times fashion, the song is punk rock at heart but blends multiple alternative rock influences: an upbeat, energetic feel reminiscent of The Strokes combines with ‘00s emo lyrics a la Alkaline Trio, with a hint of ‘90s Gin Blossoms twang.

lyrics

Take a breath, as it all falls down
I'm pulsing heat and pain all over
And it's gone right before my eyes
How can I make you understand?
This isn't nothing like I planned, now,
And now you think you know me better than I do

When it's dark and night envelops all the streets
Every road sign feels just like it's pointing me
To dangerously speed, and put the pedal to the floor
I can't know for sure
And maybe then one day I'll tell you, but that won't be today
It'll wait

And I dance with these, unfounded insecurities
I want the world to see me but only on my terms
I want to take you by the hand
I'm sick of guessing where we stand, now,
Cos now I think you know me better than I do

When it's dark and night envelops all the streets
Every road sign seems just like it's pointing me
To dangerously speed, and put the pedal to the floor
Gimme more
When it's dark and night envelops all the streets
Every road sign feels just like it's pointing me
To dangerously speed, and put the pedal to the floor
I can't know for sure
And maybe then one day I'll tell you, but that won't be today
Yeah, maybe then one day I'll tell you, but that won't be today
It'll wait
